Happy 100th Birthday East St. Paul!

May 04, 2016

Southlands Village at Pritchard Farm is proud to be a part of the vibrant community of East St. Paul, which has been in party mode since January, celebrating its Centennial year in style.

The big year kicked off with winter activities for the whole family, including a successful curling bonspiel hosted by the Lions Club, a display by local artists in the RM office and the April 8 Centennial Coffee House hosted by Abundant Life Lutheran Church. Don’t worry if you missed these opportunities to experience East St. Paul, as the best is yet to come.

Tucked into the south-west corner of the area, Southlands Village is an quiet enclave with a very unique approach to home ownership. Every lot includes professional landscaping, a deck and in-ground sprinkler systems - not to mention being surrounded by the gorgeous dry creek beds that wind through the community. The common element fee gives residents the advantage of year-round yard and driveway maintenance, which allows them to invest more into their home and ensures peace of mind that every house on the street will be finished and maintained to the same high standards.

Whether you are a resident of Southlands Village or are interested in the area, check out some highlights of the exciting Centennial lineup and visit the website for more information. East St. Paul Mayor Shelley Hart says everyone is welcome! “East St. Paul’s rich history and pioneer spirit make our community what it is today. I am honoured to be part of our 100th Anniversary and look forward to celebrating throughout the year with fellow ESP residents.”

Summer Centennial Celebrations in ESP

Summer Barbeque

Every event is going to be a highlight, but Mayor Ward is encouraging people to set aside time for exciting celebrations on July Long Weekend. “It promises to be a fun-filled weekend beginning with our Canada Day Super Run, pancake breakfasts, entertainment and more!”

  • On June 4 and 5, local artists of East St. Paul will be hosting a Centennial Art Tour. This special event is a self-guided studio tour that offers the public an extraordinary opportunity to meet local artists in their working environment and learn more about their creative process. Similar to ‘The Wave’ in the Interlake region, the ‘ESP100 Studio Tour’ is open to all local artists who show a dedication to their craft and have a studio able to accommodate tour traffic.
  • The community’s showcase celebration is planned for the July long weekend, so book the date in your calendar now. July 1 will feature the inaugural ESP100 Canada Day Super Run, and East St. Paul Chamber of Commerce pancake breakfast followed by Canada Day celebrations at the legion.
  • July 2 will showcase Brokenhead Ojibway Nation which will lead the celebration with a mini pow-wow, followed by a community concert headlining local up-and-coming pop band Panicland.
  • July 3 will begin with a Community Sharing Circle at the ESP arena followed by the grand opening of the East St. Paul Market Garden.
  • On July 22, the Lions Club of East St. Paul will host a concert/social event featuring music by Free Ride and Ray St. Germain. This event will take place at the Community Club and tickets can be purchased at Sobeys, One Insurance, the legion and the municipal office for $25/ea.

Please join East St. Paul for this special celebration of the Rural Municipality of East St. Paul’s incorporation in 1916!
